These two marvellous books discuss the subject matter of “death” from a scientific view point. Death and dying was written by Elizabeth by more than two decades ago that later led to development of Kubler’s defined stages of death as well. While “With the end in mind” is rather a recent writing by Kathryn who is a palliative care consultant working in Britain having special interest in cognitive behavioural therapy. Both books take a case description approach followed by reflections by the authors. Death is inevitable, we all are going to embrace it one day. These authors share their experiences about those whom they are trying to heal and treat through the process of dying. In other words these authors dealing with death and dying everyday. Both pieces of writings are amazing but I liked Kathryn’s work more perhaps because it is contemporary.
